Christmas Sports Carnival 2020

Our Christmas Sports Carnival in a nutshell.
This holiday season we were unable to host our annual event with parents. However, this did not stop us from channeling the festive spirit during our normal school day. Besides our mini performances, our school community came up with games made out of recycled materials. In addition, we had our first sports competition – festive edition.
Ending the event was a Santa Surprise and a very special ride!

SNOW & ICE WINTER CAMP

Alas! The Christmas break is less than a month away. While Anne Hill International School (AHI) will be closed for the Christmas break, we are very excited to announce that Anne Hill Enrichment Centre (AHE) will be hosting its second Winter Camp this holiday season.

  • Date: December 21st 2020 – January 8th 2021 (Closed on 24th – 25th December and 1st January for Christmas/New Year)
  • Time: 8.30am – 3.30pm (Mondays to Fridays)
  • Age Groups: 3 – 5 years old; 6 – 9 years old
  • Price: 8,000,000 VND per Child (10% discount for siblings)
  • Location: Anne Hill Enrichment Centre @ Estella Place

In this year’s theme, AHE is bringing what Ho Chi Minh City’s tropical weather is unable to – Snow & Ice! There will be various enrichment courses throughout the day, and they are all connected by a single theme – the origin, meaning and beauty of snow during this Christmas season. Besides Arts & Crafts, students will get to enjoy the December festivities through a variety of learning experiences such as story-telling, roleplaying, fun experiments, holiday games, music & dance and social etiquette.

Ice is cold by nature. However, at Anne Hill Enrichment Centre we hope to inspire students to use ice and snow as a meaningful tool to “melt the hearts” of their loved ones this Christmas. We look forward to the awesome creations and performances that our students will come up with this Winter Camp.

For more information on the Winter Camp and registration, please contact AHE staff at info@annehillenrichment.com or hotline: 090 384 69 38. As there are limited slots for each age group, kindly note that the Centre can only confirm your placement once payment has been received.

Importance of School Assemblies at AHI

A sneak peak into our weekly assembly that is held every Friday. This is a gathering where by students, their classmates and teachers are reminded about the school values in a fun manner. Integrity. Empathy. Respect. Humility. Forget about boring presentations – we sing songs, celebrate personal and group achievements and actively discuss about the golden rules around our campus that exist to make our school a happy and welcoming environment.

Diwali 2020

As part of our global cultural appreciation events throughout the year, we had the opportunity to learn more about Diwali earlier today. Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is an Indian festival of lights that is widely celebrated. It is a festival that signifies “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.”
This year Diwali falls on Saturday, 14th November 2020. Throughout the week, our students learnt about the various customs, read and re-enacted stories, explored diya pottery-making and tried traditional snacks. Ending the celebration was a dance with the whole school!

Halloween Celebration 2020

Listen to them – the children of AHI. What spooky yet creative costumes they have. The Jack-o’-lanterns around our campus don’t seem so scary when our students can strike a pose and scare them all! Creature crafts, pumpkin carving, halloween stories, wiggly noodles that resemble the brain – these are just some of the Halloween activity stations that our students enjoyed today.

Happy Halloween!

AHI School Values: Integrity, Empathy, Respect and Humility

Integrity. Empathy. Respect. Humility. These are the four core school values that we hope to instil in each and every student.

Anne Hill International School is not only a place where we strive for academic excellence, but also a place where children begin to understand what it means to be a member of a community. These four pillars are the foundation of our character development. They are weaved into all of our programmes in order for students to learn how they can contribute to society as future leaders of the 21st century.

ahi-school-values-1

INTEGRITY

We aim to guide students in developing trust, honesty and principles as they interact with others.

When faced with an issue to do what is beneficial and what is right, integrity is an important aspect of leadership that guides students to make a decision that will gain the trust of their peers. Integrity is a choice we make. It reflects who we are and what we believe in. It also constantly reminds us to assess the impacts of our own action and what it means for others. Academic honesty, ethics and fairness play important roles in upholding integrity at AHI.

ahi-school-values-2

EMPATHY

We aim to prepare students as leaders in their community, to understand the needs of others and to show that they care.

Students will learn the importance of listening to what others have to say before they respond. They will also get an opportunity to see how their thoughts and ideas will make others feel. By being kind and mindful to each other, students are able to evaluate the positive outcomes that their behaviour will have among social settings. As a result, students are able to build upon their interpersonal skills.

ahi-school-values-3

HUMILITY

We aim to cultivate humble leadership. As students collaborate and interact with others, they learn to appreciate the views that others share. Learning is a life long journey that does not stop with schooling. Humility is a powerful attribute that will allow us to continually strive to do better and learn from others. Self-reflection is an activity that our students will continue to do throughout their school life at AHI in order for them to appreciate personal development.

ahi-school-values-4

RESPECT

We aim to help our students understand the importance of showing respect to others in their actions and words.

Treat others like how you want to be treated. This is an old saying but it still applies to today’s context. As global citizens, our students will learn to recognise the importance of diversity and respect other cultures. A respectful attitude – including actions and words – towards difference in perspectives is part of the teamwork experience here at AHI. Even simple gestures such as “thank you” and “please” will help form a healthy learning environment for all.

AHI Reach For the Stars Rock Wall

Anne Hill International School’s latest addition to its District 2 (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) campus and outdoor facilities – The “Reach For The Stars” Rock Wall.

Embellished with colourful steps, rock-climbing is a fun way for students to improve their balance, agility and core strength.  Besides the physical benefits, it also helps students learn how to focus, problem-solve and conquer new challenges.

Balance

Learning how to balance is an important objective that we hope our students will recognise while they are doing this activity. Acquiring a sense of balance helps students realise their centre of gravity and how they can use this in order to shift their weight appropriately.

Agility

Students will also get the opportunity to improve their hand-eye coordination through rock-climbing. Through repetition of this activity, they will be able to improve their technique and condition their muscles. They will learn how to ascend, descend, grasp and grip in order to keep moving.

Core Strength

Rock climbing is a sport that teaches students to use their core strength in order to climb up the wall in an effective manner. Students will learn not to rely on their arm strength only; it is also important to utilise their lower body.

Focus

Unlike focusing in a classroom setting, rock climbing requires students to actively focus in order to maintain their balance and plan for their next move. It promotes deep concentration, allowing students to apply this to other settings throughout their school life.

Problem-Solve

Rock-climbing is not only a physical activity but also a mental exercise that provides students with a real-life problem: how to reach the top of the wall? Students will experience various ways to climb to the top and ultimately decide what is the best strategy that will conserve their energy, time and effort.

New Challenges

Finally, we hope to slowly introduce our older students to rock-climbing as an activity that will challenge what they have already learned in school. Let’s for aim for new heights not only through books, but also through the environment around us.
